euromicron refreshes network and security technology of the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden

On the basis of installation of a structured data network, the building and its workplaces are to be equipped with alarm, fire prevention, video, access and public address technology

euromicron solutions GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the euromicron Group, is implementing a high standard of security at the overhauled office buildings of the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden with its systems and comprehensive solutions.

Using the buildings’ equipment and passive data network technology, numerous alarm systems were installed as part of the complete renovation of the 1st section. They include burglar and fire alarm systems and an electro-acoustic system that sounds the alert in the event of emergencies.  In addition, euromicron solutions designed and implemented a centrally controlled access control system, an IP-based surveillance system and the management system for all the security systems.

IP-based alarm systems based on a network infrastructure of the future

euromicron solutions implemented CAT 7 tertiary cabling in the first stage of the project. The secondary cabling was carried out in fiber-optic technology, including the necessary splicing and assembly work, and extends to the floor distributors and data center.

The measurements for the overall system were conducted and documented in accordance with the cabling standard Class Ea 10 GBit Permanent Link. The result was a future-proof network infrastructure as the foundation for cutting-edge security applications.

1st section: Optimal fire prevention

The comprehensive fire detection system, above all in safety-critical areas such as elevator shafts, the data center and further technical rooms, were equipped with leading-edge components. As part of this, the euromicron team intelligently combined multi-sensor detectors, smoke extraction systems and deluge systems with switching equipment for controlling other security utilities. The danger management system comprises separate management servers with a visualized, PC-based graphical interface for operating and controlling the burglar and fire alarm systems. The system’s fire incident matrix is highly complex. If an alarm is sounded, the fire alarm system controls various utilities, such as elevator evacuation, over-pressure venting, the door/light controls or acoustic evacuation facility, which then work smoothly. The interplay of the utilities was examined in a live test and fine parameterization carried out before the employees moved into the buildings.
The design, implementation and acceptance of the electro-acoustic system as an emergency alerting system, the centrally controlled access control system and the video surveillance system went smoothly.

euromicron’s expertise in security systems

The centrally controllable security management system and IP system are easy to handle, despite their technical complexity. In particular, employees at the Federal Statistical Office value the standardized danger management system and how smooth it is to operate – excellent prerequisites for the second section of the security system, which will be accompanied by further modernization of the office complex. “Once again, euromicron solutions has proven itself to be a competent partner when it comes to installing security systems,” said Hans Berg, head of the euromicron solutions GmbH branch office in Mainz.
