New main distributor rack optimizes FTTH cabling
- eFOS unites transparent flexibility, maximum ease of use and ideal utilization of space
- euromicron board member: “We have again proven our market-leading FTTH competence with this cutting-edge product development”
The euromicron Group and its subsidiary SKM Delwave GmbH are launching the newly developed main distribution rack “eFOS” (euromicron Fiber Office System) for FTTH (fiber to the home) cabling. This in-house development optimizes flexibility, ease of use and functionalities for laying fiber-optic connections over the last mile. The combination of the many merits united in eFOS is being marketed for the first time and opens up unique advantages in terms of maintenance.
Together with its two sales partners – euroclust and euromicron’s distribution subsidiary SKM Delwave – the expert for network infrastructures is giving this innovation its worldwide premiere at the FTTH Council Europe’s most important European trade show, the FTTH Conference 2010 in Lisbon. “Optimal cable management, an enormous packing density and easy access to the splice and patch modules are just a few of the many new features eFOS unites,” states Thomas Hoffmann from euromicron’s Executive Board. “The combination of the numerous optimizations offered by this rack strengthens us in our view that eFOS will win over market players and optimize FTTH expansion in Europe,” adds Hoffmann.
“We have incorporated all our FTTH competence in developing it with the objective of doing our part to decisively speed up expansion of the fiber-optic infrastructure in Europe and so secure our continent’s long-term competitiveness over other nations and regions,” stresses euromicron’s board member. In his view, this new development again proves his company’s market-leading FTTH competence.
eFOS – everything in one rack
eFOS rack
- Maximum fiber density thanks to a 2-row arrangement of the splice modules
(960/1920/3840 fibers per rack for standard/SFF/URM couplings) - Convenient patching thanks to a rest for excess lengths on both sides for patch cords up to a maximum of 2500 mm
- 3 different rack heights (1800, 2200, 2600 mm), 2 different rack widths (600, 1000 mm)
- Racks can be installed side by side and back to back
- Open and closed (interconnect + stand alone) rack design
- Cable guidance from the top and bottom possible
- Integration of gas blockers
- Speed pipe or miniflex can be used to protect the fibers
- Fibers can be blown into the splice module
- Integrated patch cable management to adjacent racks
- Customized solutions for the front doors, lock designs, special dimensions and special colors
eFOS splice modules
- Removable splice/patch modules that can be rotated by 90 degrees in 2 sizes (1 or 2 HU for 12/24/48 standard/SFF/URM couplings)
- Standard module type for assembly on the right or left
- Standardized metal front panels for all types of coupling
- Snap-in coupling holder angled at 45 degrees for accommodating all conventional types of coupling (SC, LC, E2000, ST, FC, LX.5)
- Very simple cleaning of the pigtail connector ferrules by removal of the coupling holder
- Shrink and crimp splice protection holder possible
- Customized 3-fold module labeling (front panel, side and cover) with color coding
- Standard module color for ideal storage
- Easy-to-remove module cover on both sides
- Integration of splitters up to 1x64 possible
- Guaranteed minimum bending radius for all fibers
- Up to 1.5 m excess length rest for the fiber protection possible in the module
- 4 different module carrier types (2, 4, 6, 8 HU)
eFOS will be premiered to a FTTH trade audience at the joint stand of euromicron, euroclust and SKM Delwave at the FTTH Conference 2010 of the FTTH Council Europe on February 24 and 25.
eFOS will also be showcased at the euromicron Group’s stand at CeBIT 2010 in Hanover. In Hall 12, stand C65, euromicron will present its extensive expertise in planning, setting up and maintaining cutting-edge network infrastructures and its market-leading applications under the slogan “Fiber to the X” from March 2 to 6, 2010.
