euromicron wins contract from Lower Saxony’s capital Hanover

Network technology for key municipal properties

euromicron Deutschland GmbH has won the public invitation to tender from the City of Hanover to carry out work on telecommunications networks and equipment. The system house subsidiary of euromicron AG will implement passive network infrastructures and provide accompanying IT services for many properties owned by the city – including the listed New Town Hall and more than 150 schools – over the next one-and-a-half years.

euromicron Deutschland GmbH, one of Germany’s leading system houses in the future market of the Internet of Things, is going from success to success in the municipal sector as well. As part of a public invitation to tender from the City of Hanover, the capital of the federal state of Lower Saxony, the IoT specialist won the contract to carry out work on telecommunications networks and equipment. euromicron Deutschland will thus implement passive network infrastructures and provide accompanying IT services for many properties owned by the city – including the listed New Town Hall, the Fire Brigade, the municipal sanitation service, and the more than 150 schools – over the next one-and-a-half years. Active network components from leading manufacturers, as well as high-quality technical devices, will be integrated in the cable infrastructures as part of that. For example, interactive blackboards will be integrated as part of the construction of cable routes and the cabling. The cable networks will be designed as FTTO (fiber to the office) infrastructures.

One of the project’s biggest challenges is to implement network infrastructures in listed buildings, such as the New Town Hall and several schools. As part of that work, euromicron Deutschland will be able to leverage the experience it has gained in similar projects. For example, the system house subsidiary of euromicron AG has integrated more than 40 switches for installation in ducts from its sister company MICROSENS at the New Town Hall and other buildings in the past. Due to the fact that some of the buildings were listed, all the components had to be installed so that they were not visible and – for example in the Mosaic Room at the New Town Hall –  had to be precisely adapted optically to the existing color structure after the work had been completed. Similar requirements can also be expected this time.

“The network infrastructure projects we are carrying out for the City of Hanover are frequently very demanding because of the general constraints imposed – but they’re also exciting because they’re often anything but routine,” states Karsten Möhle, Project Manager from euromicron Deutschland GmbH. “So we’re looking forward to accomplishing the new contract and working together with the city.”
