Offenburg is one of the first ten cities in Germany where Deutsche Telekom AG is expanding its fiber-optic network. By the end of 2011, almost 14,000 households will be able to benefit from the high-speed network. Some 1,000 kilometers of fiber-optic cable are to be laid and up to 80 new distributors installed. Digital data will then be able to be sent over the new network at a speed of up to 200 Mbit/sec, thus ensuring greater security and efficiency in private and professional life and the supply infrastructure. Telekom has invested a total of 12 million euros in expanding the fiber-optic network in Offenburg.
As part of the major project, Deutsche Telekom AG invited tenders for several sub-projects. The Karlsruhe branch office of euromicron solutions GmbH was awarded the contract for expanding the eastern section of Offenburg. “We’re very proud to be one of the companies commissioned in Offenburg, one of the first ten cities in Germany where Telekom is expanding its fiber-optic network,” says Gerhard Schönhoff, Managing Director of euromicron solutions.
